Bob Cooper

LEAD PASTOR

During a difficult period in Bob’s life, he cried out to God and prayed on August 12, 1990 to be adopted into a forever family…He desired purpose and direction while experiencing a void in his life that only God could fill through the sacrificial love and faithfulness of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

After 15 years as a start-up business owner and serving as an elder and eventual church board member at a local Calvary affiliate, Bob accepted a call into vocational ministry in 2010. With his wife, Brenda by his side as a helpmate, Bob transitioned into a director position in student ministry at Calvary. Once ordained in January 2012, Bob accepted an associate pastor position in care ministry accompanied by various leadership roles while pursuing his passion in biblical counseling at Calvary Chapel University.

Bob is particularly passionate about discipleship…Believers are commanded to, “make disciples” the way Jesus did: small but impactful life-on-life transformational discipleship. He purposes to cultivate relationships and enjoys spending time with family and friends. Alongside Bob, Brenda loves serving, loving and gathering the saints for fun, fellowship and building community. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

Bob & Brenda are blessed with a daughter, Rachael who loves Jesus and serving others. Rachael has received her bachelor's degree in elementary education and currently teaches third graders at a local private school.  She also loves singing with the worship team.

Bob’s personal life objective comes from a command from Jesus: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…And…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  Matthew 22:37-39

Joe Washington

SERVING ELDER

Born in California, Joe attended church as a family tradition.  At that time, he believed one’s faith was works-based. Through many difficult trials and failures, Joe’s heart opened to the truth of the gospel through initially hearing a powerful message from a Palm Beach pastor.

After meeting his wife, Brenda in 1999, Joe’s faith intensified through conviction and they married in 2001.  At Calvary Chapel, Lake Worth in 2005, Joe formally accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.  Through the years, Joe has served as an elder, a discipleship leader, and in the security/first impressions’ ministries. For 16 plus years, he has worked at the Hibiscus Children’s Center for abused, abandoned, and neglected children.

Brenda, a Florida native, was baptized while young and then rededicated her life to Christ in 1996.  She has a passion to care for babies and for eight years served in ministry as a Nursery Coordinator.  Brenda works with IHEART Communications and also as an entrepreneur in beauty/cosmetics.  Between them, Joe and Brenda have eight children, three of which would have been Joe’s eldest children who passed away as infants.  We’re blessed to call them family at CCC-JB where Joe was officially ordained as an elder and Brenda serves in the Calvary Kids’ nursery.

Ephesians 4:31-32; “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and slander be put away along with all malice.  Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave you.”

Liza Fernandez

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY DIRECTOR

Liza Fernandez was born in Chicago, IL to Puerto Rican parents.  In-step with her family’s desire to move back to Puerto Rico, Liza bloomed where she was planted and attended church with her Aunt.  Missing her original home in the States after 7 years in P.R., Liza returned back to Chicago for 3 years.  She then moved to South Florida and eventually settled in Port St. Lucie for an accumulation of 25 years to date.

While living in South Florida, Liza met and married Oscar, her husband of 18 years.  It was during their years together that the relational trials and life storms brought her to her knees.  Liza knew she needed a Savior and God’s Word to get her life back on track.  In 2013, she surrendered her life to Christ and within the next year, Oscar did as well.  Both Oscar and their son, Jayden (17) were recently baptized in 2018.

Liza’s love for children led her to volunteer in children’s ministry since 2013.   Her desire is for each child to learn and grow in Jesus and to have a strong foundation of faith.  She also wants to cultivate caring friendships between the children.

Along with her passion for children, Liza enjoys her career as an Executive Administrative Assistant at a family-owned excavation company.  She has been in this field for over 20 years.  Well organized and disciplined, Liza’s heart to teach the children that “Jesus is the way, the truth and the life” is an asset to the Children’s Ministry Director role.

When Oscar is home from the road as a professional OTR Truck Driver that takes him all over the U.S., he joins men’s discipleship groups.  Oscar also assists with beautification projects in the children’s building.  Jayden serves as a student helper in the children’s ministry.  Marcus, the eldest son at 27, and their beloved dog, Rock round out the rest of their immediate family. We’re blessed that they call CCC their church home.

Proverbs 3:5-6; "Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.”

Debi Roberson

CONNECTIONS COORDINATOR

Although born in New Jersey, Debi has lived all of her teen/adult life in Florida. While attending a Catholic church growing up, she realized an absence of God’s presence in her life.  At 24, she visited a Calvary Chapel in Ft. Lauderdale.  It was there that she really felt the spirit of the Lord touch her heart.  In 1991, Debi was baptized after accepting Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

Through many life storms including health issues, Debi persevered and always found her footing back on the solid foundation of Christ.  Twists and turns in life would remind her to keep in pursuit of God even though her life unfolded with unexpected and sometimes painful detours.  Those heartaches and detours transformed her into being more compassionate and accepting of others.  Eventually, Debi would be reunited with her high school love, Charlie, and in turn, would make a life together of over 20 years with a family of 5 children.

In 2019, Debi and her family moved to Port St. Lucie. She then became the caregiver to her mom who was facing declining health issues.  She credits God, her family, and the CCC family for getting her through a few tough years of losing both of her parents and then facing intensified back issues.  Debi then underwent extensive spinal surgery and is now literally a walking miracle with little to no pain!  To God, she gives the glory along with heartfelt thankfulness for all of the fervent prayers and support.

Debi is excited to serve as a Connections Coordinator where she can welcome guests and connect them to using their gifts to further God’s kingdom.  Debi obtained her Bachelor of Biblical Studies degree at Palm Beach Atlantic in 2021.  She also enjoys leading women’s life groups and making new friends at CCC.

Rachael Cooper

CALVARY STUDENT LEADER & WORSHIP VOCALS

Born in Stuart, Florida, Rachael boldly embraces adventures and the challenges that come with pushing herself out of her comfort zone so God can move in her and through her. With parents always serving in ministry, Rachael adapts easily to surrounding herself with friends and cultivating a love for Jesus and others.

Accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior at 13 and getting baptized at 14, Rachael opened her heart to a life of loving and serving Jesus. This journey led to a mission trip to Spain and student conferences and camps all over Florida and throughout bordering states. Her love of children opened doors to camp counseling staff positions and obtaining an elementary education degree at North Greenville University, South Carolina.

Rachael loves reading, movies, and music, and enjoys traveling and experiencing other cultures. Her passion for music helped inspire her to seek mentoring in worship so she could pursue her interests in vocals. She currently serves in Calvary Students’ Ministry as a group leader, uses her gift of vocals on the CCC worship team, and teaches third grade at a private school in St. Lucie County. Rachael is also involved in discipleship groups and loves spending time with young adults. She hopes to continue traveling and spreading the love of Jesus.  She continues to be willing and able to serve wherever and whenever God leads.

Ravi Roberson

AV TECH LEADER & CALVARY STUDENT LEADER

Ravi Roberson was born in Fort Lauderdale and grew up in South Florida in a Christian home. Along with his parents and five siblings, Ravi moved to the Treasure Coast over 3 years ago.

Never one to shy away from an opportunity to share the good news of the gospel, Ravi made a public profession of his faith through baptism at the tender age of 11.

Diagnosed with a brain tumor in his sophomore year of high school, Ravi continued to excel in academics. He received a 4-year scholarship from ACCA to Palm Beach State College into a HVACR trade program. Additionally, Ravi served as an apprentice for 5 plus years in a marine AC mentor partnership to learn and excel in his trade. God healed Ravi from the traumatic brain tumor, and he has been fully restored.

Even more so in the last 3 years, Ravi has been drawn to a deeper revelation of Jesus. Throughout his faith journey, Ravi has been called into ministry roles by leading children and high schoolers into deep discussions about God’s Word. Always joy-filled, laughing, and seeing the best in everyone, Ravi also enjoys serving and helping others. He is also mechanically/technically inclined and welcomes the challenge to fix just about anything.

Ravi is a business owner, who loves rollercoasters, basketball, and hanging out with his family and friends. He serves in the audio/visual ministry at CCC and as a group leader in student ministry. Ravi is blessed to call Calvary Community his church home.
